Draft for legal review

Terms of service

Dateable is dating for adults who say what they want at the start. Join, and you agree to three things: be who you say you are, treat every member with respect, and never buy or sell sex.

Draft for legal review. A lawyer reads these terms before Dateable launches. Until then they show how the service works; they are not yet the final agreement.

Last updated 30 September 2026.

1. Who we are

Dateable runs the website dateable.dev and its members area. "We" and "us" mean Dateable. "You" means the person using it. The operator's legal name and ABN are to be announced.

These terms, our community rules and our privacy policy make up the agreement between us. Where they disagree, these terms win.

2. Who can join

You may join if all of these are true:

  • You are 18 or over. The app checks your date of birth when you join and refuses anyone younger.
  • You can make a binding agreement where you live.
  • You join as yourself, with your own photos and true details.
  • You hold one account only.
  • We have not removed you from Dateable before.

Messaging needs a complete profile. Applying for invitations and posting on the Board need verification: a live selfie holding a pose the app picks at random, which a person compares with your photos. Verification confirms you match your photos. It is not an identity or age document check; that check is to be announced.

3. Your account

You sign in through Omxus, our sign-in service. Keep your passkey, password or phrase to yourself. What happens under your account is your responsibility, so tell us straight away if someone else gets in.

You choose a side when you join, generous or attractive, and may change it once. Pause your account in Settings to hide it and keep your data. Delete it in Settings, and we delete your profile, photos, messages and applications within 30 days.

4. How members behave

  • Be honest. Your photos are you, recent and unedited enough to recognise. Your age, city and details are true.
  • Say what you want, and hear a no. Talk about expectations before you meet. When someone declines, stops replying or blocks you, leave it there.
  • Keep contact in Dateable until you both choose otherwise. Board listings may not carry phone numbers, emails, handles or links.
  • Respect privacy. What a member shares with you, including a private album, stays with you.
  • Show up. Cancel early if plans change. On the Board, three late cancellations or no-shows in 90 days pause posting or applying for 30 days.
  • Treat people fairly. No harassment, threats or abuse. No listing may exclude people by race or religion.
  • Report what is wrong. Report and block sit one press away. A person reads every report.

Every message and listing passes automatic checks. We refuse text that breaks these terms and warn the member. Repeated attempts go to a person.

5. Never allowed

Dating. Never sex for money.

Generosity on Dateable means gifts, experiences, mentoring and support inside a relationship both people chose. A payment for sex or intimacy is not that, whatever it is called. Break this, and we remove you.

Where the law requires, or a member is in danger, we pass information to police.

  • Offering, asking for, pricing or arranging sexual services for payment, in any wording, including "pay per meet".
  • Soliciting: using Dateable to advertise or recruit for sex work, an agency or another business.
  • Anyone under 18, in any photo or any word, and any wording that trades on youth.
  • Asking a member to pay, deposit, or send money, gift cards or crypto.1
  • Fake profiles, impersonation, scams, and photos of anyone but you.
  • Sharing, or threatening to share, someone's intimate image without their consent.2
  • A private home or hotel room as the first meeting place of a Board invitation.
  • Bots, scraping, copying member data, or getting round a block or a removal.

6. Your photos and words

Your photos, profile, messages and listings stay yours. You give us a licence to host, store, copy, resize, review and show them to the members your settings allow, only to run Dateable. The licence is non-exclusive, free and worldwide, because members sign in from anywhere.

We never use your photos in advertising without your written permission.

You promise you own what you upload or have the right to share it, and that everyone pictured is 18 or over and agreed to it. A person reviews every photo before anyone else sees it. We strip location data on upload. We may refuse or remove anything that breaks these terms.

The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies we must keep by law or that clear from backups within 30 days.

Dateable's name, wordmark, design, writing and photography belong to Dateable. Please do not copy them.

7. Price and refunds

Dateable is currently free for everyone, every feature, both sides. There are no credits and no subscription.

  • If we ever add a paid feature, we tell members before it starts, and you see the price before you pay.
  • Dateable never stores card details.
  • Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the Australian Consumer Law. If the service fails, tell us and we put it right.

Money between members. An offer on a Board listing, such as dinner, travel, a gift or an allowance, is a statement by the host. Dateable never holds, moves or guarantees money between members, takes no fee on an offer, and is not a party to any arrangement between members.

8. Leaving and removal

You may pause or delete your account at any time, in Settings.

We may pause, limit or remove an account that breaks these terms, puts a member at risk, or where the law requires it. We tell you why, unless telling you is unsafe or unlawful. A removed account can do nothing, and we delete its data after the retention period.

Think we got it wrong? Write to us through the contact page and a person looks again.

9. Our responsibility

We verify members, review every photo and read every report. We cannot promise who a person is, what they intend, or how a date goes. You choose whom you meet, and your safety habits matter: meet in public, tell a friend, never send money. Read safety on Dateable.

As far as the law allows, we provide Dateable as it is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for what members do on or off Dateable. The Australian Consumer Law, and any other right the law will not let us exclude, still applies.

A cap on our liability, if any, is for legal review.

10. Governing law

The law of Western Australia governs these terms. The courts of Western Australia, and the courts that hear appeals from them, decide any dispute.

Please come to us first. Most problems end with one message through the contact page.

11. Changes and contact

When we change these terms, we update the date at the top and email members before a change that matters takes effect. Keep using Dateable after that, and the new terms apply.

Questions about these terms: contact us. Something unsafe: report it. In danger now, call 000.

General information about the law on this page is not legal advice.
