Your account

Who can join Dateable?

Any adult 18 or over. You give your date of birth when you join, and the app enforces the age. Your profile shows your age, never the date.

Is it free to join?

Yes, for everyone, every feature: messages, private albums, verification and the Board.

What are the two sides?

You choose one when you join: generous or attractive. Any gender fits either side. Who you want to meet is a separate field, "looking for".

Can I change my side later?

Yes, once.

How do I take a break?

Pause your account in Settings. Nobody sees you while paused, and your profile, photos and messages stay put for when you come back.

How do I delete my account?

Settings, then Delete. We delete your profile, photos, messages and Board applications within 30 days. Our audit record keeps a scrambled copy of your member key and the reason, nothing else. Step by step: delete your account.

Profile and photos

What makes a profile complete?

One photo, three profile details and an "about" of 50 characters or more. A complete profile can browse members and save favourites. A meter on your profile shows how far along you are.

What goes on a profile?

A display name, city, headline (80 characters), about (1000) and "what I offer" or "what I am looking for" (500). Then the details you choose to share: height, body type, hair, eyes, smoking, drinking, education, occupation and interests. Generous members may add income and net worth bands. Both are optional.

How many photos can I add?

Up to 12 public and 12 private. Your first public photo shows your face. Help choosing: choose your photos.

Who sees my photos, and when?

A person reviews every photo before anyone else sees it. On upload we strip the hidden data inside the file, such as the place and time it was taken.

How do private albums work?

A member asks to see your private album. You grant it or ignore it, one member at a time, and you can take access back whenever you like. Only verified members can view an album, and only one you granted. More: private photos.

Verification

How does verification work?

You take a live selfie holding a pose the app picks at random. A reviewer compares it with your profile photos. Full detail: how verification works.

What does verifying unlock?

Messages, full Board listings, applying for and posting invitations, and the private albums other members grant you.

What does the Verified badge mean?

The person matches their photos. The badge says "Verified" and the month it happened. It is not an identity or age document check. An ID check is to be announced.

What happens to my selfie?

We keep it until the reviewer decides, then delete it 30 days after the decision. We keep the decision and the date.

When do I verify again?

When you change your first photo. The badge always vouches for the face people see first.

Messages

Who can send messages?

Any member with a complete profile. Verified members carry the badge and sit higher in search, and members reply to them more.

Does messaging cost anything?

No. Messages are free on both sides. How you reply is rated: promptly and fully lifts you in search. How ratings work.

What can't I say in a message?

Messages pass the same checks as Board listings. Nothing that offers or prices sex or intimacy. Nothing that trades on youth. No request that anyone pay, deposit or send money or gift cards. Read the community rules.

What happens when I block someone?

They stop seeing you anywhere: search, the Board and messages. Block is one press away, and your blocked list lives in Settings.

The Board

What is the Board?

A member posts an invitation: a gala, a dinner, a trip, a standing Thursday. Other members apply. The host accepts the one they want. Either side can post.

Who can see and apply?

Anyone can browse titles, cities, days and offers, signed in or not. Verified members read full listings, apply and post. Each listing links the host's profile, so you know who you are applying to.

How do I apply?

Write a note of 50 to 800 characters: why you, and why this date. One application per listing. You can withdraw it. Guide: apply for an invitation.

What happens after the host accepts me?

A private conversation opens between you. Confirm within 48 hours, or the place goes back to the host. The venue name shows only to you, the accepted guest. The day before, you both get the first-date safety checklist.

Does Dateable handle the money in an offer?

No. The offer is the host's statement. Dateable never holds, moves or guarantees money between members, and takes no fee on an offer.

What if someone cancels late?

Cancel inside 24 hours, or miss the date, and it goes on your record. Three in 90 days pauses posting or applying for 30 days. After a date, each of you may leave a private rating. Ratings are never public.

Is it free?

Who pays?

Nobody. Every feature is free on both sides: messages, private albums, verification and the Board.

Are there credits or a subscription?

No. Details on membership.

Will anyone ask me to pay?

Not Dateable. A member who asks you for money, a fee or gift cards before you meet is a scam: stop and report them.

Safety

How do I report someone?

Report is one press away. Reports go to a review queue a person works through. Two reports on a listing hide it at once until someone checks it. You can also use the report page.

Someone asked me for money. What now?

Stop, and report them. Never send money to someone you have not met in person.1 Nobody on Dateable needs your bank login, a gift card or a fee to "release" a payment. If you already paid, call your bank straight away.1

Someone threatens to share my photos.

Do not pay, and send nothing more. Stop contact, keep screenshots, report the member here, then report it to eSafety, which can help get images removed.2

How do I stay safe on a first date?

Meet in public and get there yourself. Tell a friend where you are going and when, and share your location with them.3 A hotel room or a private home is never the first meeting place on the Board. Read safety on Dateable.

Something happened after a date. Who can help?

In danger, call 000. It is not your fault.3 1800RESPECT answers on 1800 737 732, day and night, for sexual assault, stalking and image-based abuse.4 Then report the member to us.
