Safety

Safety on Dateable

We check every member and every photo, and keep report and block one press away. You keep three habits: meet in public, tell a friend, never send money.

In danger now? Call 000.

Our part

What Dateable does

Verification

Before anyone can message, apply or post, they take a live selfie holding a pose the app picks at random. A person compares it with their profile photos. Every member is 18 or over.

Photo review

A person reviews every photo before anyone else sees it. Location data is stripped on upload. Your private album opens only to members you choose, and you can close it again.

Report

One press. A person reads every report. An invitation two members report comes down at once while we look.

Block

One press, and they are gone. A blocked member never sees you again: not in search, not on the Board, not in messages.

Verification confirms a member matches their photos. It is not an identity document check; that is to be announced. How verification works.

Your part

Three habits. Every date.

Meet in public

Somewhere busy, ideally in daylight.1 The hotel bar, not the room. Never their place or yours on a first date.2

Tell a friend

Who, where, when, and when you expect to be home. Share your location, and call them when you get in.2

Never send money

Not to anyone you have not met in person.3 Not a fee, not a gift card, not crypto. Dateable never holds or moves money between members.

Before you meet

Take your time

Ask questions. Video call first, so you know they match their photos. Keep your address, workplace, date of birth and family names to yourself until you trust them.2

Get there on your own, so you leave when you choose. Charge your phone. Keep your drink in sight. If they change the place at the last minute to somewhere you do not know, cancel.2

Words that work: "I'll meet you at the bar at seven. I'm driving myself." And if the plan shifts: "Let's keep it where we said, or do it another night."

A date from the Board? The day before, both of you get the first-date safety checklist.

Money

Nobody real needs your bank login

Scams follow a pattern. Big feelings fast. A push to move to WhatsApp. Excuses to skip a video call. Then a request for money or a crypto investment.3 Payment by wire, gift card, money transfer app or crypto is the tell.4

Say it plainly: "I don't send money to anyone I haven't met. Let's keep talking here." Then press report.

An invitation on the Board may never ask a guest to pay, deposit or send gift cards, and may not offer a private home or hotel room as the first meeting place. We refuse those before they go up.

If something goes wrong

You are not on your own

Tell us

Report the member. A person reads it. Block them if you want them gone now.

Report a member

Tell the police

Reporting to an app is not reporting to police. Police can still investigate after one of you blocks or deletes the other.5 Emergency: 000.
