How to confirm a Board invitation once the host accepts you

Confirm within 48 hours of being accepted. Once you confirm, you have a commitment both ways and the other person knows you are serious.

Two people on a date

When the host accepts your application, a private conversation opens between the two of you. Confirm your acceptance within 48 hours, but only once the day, time and offer are clear enough that you actually want to go. If you do not confirm within 48 hours, your acceptance lapses and the host can accept someone else.

The 48-hour window starts when the host accepts you

The host posts an invitation. You apply. If they like your application they tap accept. That is when the clock starts. You have 48 hours to confirm.

The 48 hours is there for a reason. It stops acceptances from sitting open for weeks while the host waits to hear from you, leaving the host and the other person in limbo. After 48 hours, if you have not confirmed, the host can accept someone else. You can still keep talking to them, but the acceptance is gone.

The host needs to know quickly whether you are genuinely interested. They might have other applications waiting, or they might want to start planning. A 48-hour window is long enough for you to get your thoughts together and short enough that the host does not spend the week wondering whether you are going to show up.

Wait until you are sure before you confirm

Do not confirm just to buy time. Confirm when the day, time and offer are clear to you and you actually want to go. If you are still working out whether the setup suits you, keep talking. The host needs the 48-hour window to know whether you are serious.

Read their messages carefully. Ask questions if something is unclear. What does the offer include? What is the day and time? Is there anything you are uncertain about? A vague invitation is a sign to ask for more information before committing.

Think through the practical side too. Can you actually make the day and time? Do you have transport? Is the offer something you genuinely want to do, or are you saying yes just to not let them down? Confirmation should mean you are ready to follow through.

The venue name appears once you confirm

The invitation shows the place, the date and what the host offers. The venue name itself appears on your end only once you have confirmed your acceptance. That is a privacy measure: a potential member knows the venue, but not before both people have agreed.

How to confirm

In the private conversation with the host, tap confirm. That is it. You do not need to write anything. The host sees that you have confirmed, and both of you now have a commitment.

If you want to add a message, you can. Keep it simple. A line saying you are looking forward to it is enough. You are not making a sales pitch or trying to re-impress them. They already chose you.

I'm confirming. Looking forward to it.

You do not need to repeat the details back to them or apologise for taking time to decide. They know what they offered. You have said yes. The confirmation itself is the message.

If you cannot go, say so rather than let it lapse

Plans change. You might realise the date does not work, or something about the offer does not suit you after all. If that happens, say so in the conversation instead of just disappearing.

Do not wait for the 48 hours to run out. The host is waiting to hear from you. A quick message costs nothing and lets them offer the invitation to someone else straight away. If you do not confirm and do not say anything, the host gets neither confirmation nor a reason.

You have two options. You can say no before the 48 hours are up, or you can let the acceptance lapse and stay in contact if you want. Either way, the host knows where they stand.

Thank you, but I need to step back on this. It is not the right timing for me.

That is all they need. You are not obliged to explain why. Be polite and move on. If you have changed your mind about talking to them altogether, report and block is one press from any profile. Dateable never holds or moves money between members, so there is nothing to settle.

Once you confirm, you have a commitment

Confirming means you have agreed to the date. The host has taken the invitation down and is now counting on you. If something comes up and you need to cancel, let them know as soon as you can. The earlier you tell them, the earlier they can make other plans.

A confirmed date is not casual. Treat it the same way you would treat plans with anyone else. Be on time. Follow through. You applied for the invitation because something about it appealed to you. Confirmation is you saying you meant it.

The host is investing time and effort into the invitation. They chose you over other applicants. They are making arrangements. A cancellation at the last minute makes their evening harder, so give them as much notice as you can if plans change.

Planning once you confirm

Before the date itself, make sure you plan it properly: know what you are doing, where you are going, and how you are getting there. Confirm the time with the host if anything shifts. Good planning makes for a good meeting.

Use the private conversation to sort out the details. What should you wear? Should you bring anything? Where exactly are you meeting? The more you clarify beforehand, the smoother the meeting goes and the less room there is for misunderstanding or awkwardness.

Confirmation is the beginning of follow-through, not the end of it. You have 48 hours to confirm. What happens after is up to you both, but you have made a promise. Keep it.
